Introduction to Human Services covers the dual perspective of Blackfeet and Western culture's philosophy in regards to social services. This course will cover a broad overview of social service programs and problems in meeting basic needs, with an emphasis on the complexity of human service in historical development. Identify the skills and knowledge in working with people, the definition of roles, functions of human service and social workers, and the differentiation between professionals and para-professionals. Intermediate computer program design and development using structured techniques. Includes small project development. Stresses modularity, program design, implementation, and testing. Object oriented programming/object oriented design (OOP/OOD) techniques will be utilized.
This course is designed to teach students the basic principles of good project management. Students will learn how to identify and schedule project resources, create project flow charts, and produce critical path planning and evaluation reports. Important issues of staff selection and team management are also covered. Topics covered include the basic concepts of the five essential project management processes, defining requirements, schedules, risk management, and change control. Students will gain a solid understanding of how to initiate, plan, execute, control, and close a project. They will also clearly understand what is required of them to successfully pass the CompTia Project + Exam and become certified.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to identify the major parts of speech, including major sentence elements and clauses and phrases; The student will be able to identify and correct common nonstandard uses of English grammar. Students will write short essays with attention to the basic components of successful compositions: thesis statements, topic sentences, organization, development, and style.
This course is an introduction to programming logic and computer problem-solving using algorithms and flowcharts. Students learn the fundamentals of structured program design. A hands on emphasis is provided in programming, including decision structures, and text files. Course work stresses practical application of programming.
This course focuses on the basic operations of personal computers. It introduces the technology and terminology of computer systems and demonstrates how computers have impacted society. This course provides instruction in the basics of operating systems, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
This class is the integration of the applications in the Microsoft Office suite including database, spreadsheets, word processors, graphical presentations, internet activities, and web pages. The student will learn to integrate these applications.
Advanced programming techniques emphasis on functions, pointers, arrays, user defined data structures, and ADT's. A survey of fundamental data structures. Covers pointers, arrays, user defined data structures, abstract data types, time-space complexity, algorithm proofs, program testing, and operating system interactions. Computability and intractable problems are discussed. Object oriented programing/object oriented design (OOP/OOD) techniques will be utilized.
This course is a comprehensive introduction to the discipline of sociology. The course covers both theoretical and methodological perspectives of selected topics, including culture, social interaction, deviance organizations and occupations, social stratification, institutions and population. Emphasis is placed on conceptual understanding through observation and analysis of familiar social settings.
This course is an Introduction of Social Work Practice as a profession. Emphasis is placed on case management of the applicable concepts of theories across a wide range of clients in the field, including the examination of the goals, philosophy, frame of reference in professions, and the NASW Code of Ethics.
This course includes a comprehensive study of the Blackfeet Nation. Cultural sites will be identified along with a discussion of thier historical significance. Sites such as reservation communities, mountains, and pathways will also be identified and discussed, with an emphasis on religious, cultural, and historical significance.
This course is intended as an introductory survey of the scientific discipline of psychology. The scientific study of humans and animals will be studied. Students will be guided towards an appreciation of the 6 theoretical perspectives that psychology has to offer.
This course is an exploration of a computer database program as a means of creating, storing, exporting, and retrieving information. It includes the use of multiple programs, data organization, the retrieval of specific information, and formatting reports; emphasizes the use of Microsoft Access. This course prepares the student for Microsoft's MOUS certification.
This class includes theory and applications of spreadsheet software. Also included are advanced features such as programming, web linking, scripting, goal seeking, solver, application integration, list management, complex models, macro implementation, graph creation, and graphic presentation of analyzed data will be covered; emphasizes the use of Microsoft Excel. This course prepares the student for Microsoft's MOUS certification.
